The annual event brings thought leaders from across the health care industry to our community.

Each year, the Lake Nona Institute Impact Forum brings renowned thought leaders and fresh ideas from across the health care industry to our community. From mental health and performance to the impact of smart technology, this year’s Impact Forum featured incredible conversations around health and innovation.

Seattle Seahawks Quarterback and co-founder of Limitless Minds, Russell Wilson, was joined by his brother and business partner Harry Wilson and Lake Nona resident Charles Woodson to talk about mental wellbeing and its impact on success both on and off the field.

“You don’t need to be sick to get better,” said Russell Wilson. “If you want to be great, your lifestyle can’t be random. You need to have a plan.”

The importance of children’s health was another theme explored at the Impact Forum.

“Adverse childhood experiences have a long-lasting impact on health,” said American Medical Association President Patrice Harris, MD. She was joined by Nemours Children’s Hospital CEO, R. Lawrence Moss, MD, Vassar College President, Elizabeth Bradley, PhD, and Market President for AmeriHealth, Karen Dale in a discussion about how children’s health impacts America’s economic future.

Other timely panels focused on health care policy, nutrition, the healing power of the arts, innovation in wellbeing, and addressing the coronavirus. Some of the panels were live-streamed during the event.

During the Impact Forum, New York-based Urban Yogis kept guests active with morning yoga, meditation, and stretch breaks. They also made time to visit NorthLake Park Community School where they taught yoga to first and second graders during their P.E. classes.

At WHIT, Lake Nona’s health prototype home, we tested new applications in a special showcase for guests of the Impact Forum where our WHIT innovators had the opportunity to share their vision for the future of smart home technology.
