New 50,000-square-foot complex coming to Lake Nona
Lake Nona’s active community will soon get to experience the best way to play or watch sports in Florida: in the air conditioning. XL Soccer World broke ground on a 50,000-square-foot, indoor athletic complex.
The new, indoor facility will be ideal for all ages to engage in year-round play, away from the heat and rain. A variety of leagues, programs and pick-up opportunities will be available for children and adults, including the first-of-its-kind, non-residential, full-time soccer academy lead by former Manchester United and England National Team player, Alan Smith.
Anticipated to open the summer of 2020, XL Soccer World will be located off Narcoossee Road less than one mile south of SR 417 near Valencia Community College’s Lake Nona campus and Lake Nona Landing shopping center.
With two, six-versus-six 4G boarded turf fields and two multi-surface fields, athletes and spectators will have plenty of room to play and watch. In addition to soccer, the fields can be used to play lacrosse, flag football, volleyball and Futsal.
When visitors are off the field, they can enjoy a break in the soccer-themed pub equipped with 20 large-screen TVs airing the day’s best domestic and international soccer games. The fields and soccer pub are also available for rentals and birthday parties.
XL Soccer World joins Lake Nona’s growing Sports & Performance District including the 100-court USTA National Campus, flagship location of Drive Shack, and watersports venue, Nona Adventure Park.
“I’m really excited to reach the next milestone in this project,” said Ciaran McArdle, XL Soccer World CEO. “As a resident in this community, it’s an amazing opportunity to bring our first-class facilities to an active community like Lake Nona and to better serve south Orlando.”
The new facility also joins a growing list of other resident-owned businesses active in Lake Nona. Earlier this year, Lake Nona announced three resident-owned businesses for the community’s Pixon apartments including Club Pilates.
