The new 150,000-square-foot store model is roughly 20,000 square feet larger than the average Target. Executives for the company have indicated the retailer will continue to open stores of all sizes but will focus on this larger footprint over the next few years.
Meanwhile, experts told OBJ it’s not surprising Target has signed a lease for a store in Lake Nona, as currently there is not a store in southeast Orlando, the Lake Nona region or fast-growing St. Cloud.
In fact, its closest location to the fast-growing, affluent community in southeast Orlando is the Hunters Creek store at 2155 Town Center Blvd. — about 10 miles west of where Lake Nona West will be built.
Target was announced as the first anchor retail tenant for its much-anticipated Lake Nona West lifestyle center.
