Orlando, Fla. – Nov. 29, 2021 – Orlando’s Lake Nona community has been named the 2021 Florida Automated Vehicles (FAV) Summit Leadership and Innovation Award recipient for excellence in advancing automated mobility technologies. Hailed as “the Future of Cities” by Fortune Magazine and created by the Tavistock Group, Lake Nona is an innovative smart city known for integrating cutting-edge technology to support mobility for residents and visitors, and the first community to receive this award.
“Tavistock’s Lake Nona is setting the standard for automated mobility solutions for communities statewide and across the country,” said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. “This award is a testament to Lake Nona’s culture of innovation and collaboration.”
Lake Nona is currently home to the largest and longest autonomous vehicle network at one location in the country, Move Nona. The autonomous shuttle network, powered by BEEP, is part of Lake Nona’s comprehensive sustainable transportation plan that also includes the future home of America’s first high-speed, electric air mobility hub, the Lilium Lake Nona Vertiport scheduled to open by 2025. The vertiport is projected to serve more than 20 million Floridians with all-electric, vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and is being built in partnership with German aviation company Lilium and the City of Orlando.
Tavistock’s Lake Nona was honored at the 2021 FAV Summit on November 30 at Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando, Florida.
“It is our honor to name the Tavistock Group, Lake Nona as the 2021 FAV Summit Leadership and Innovation Award winner,” said State Senator Jeff Brandes, who has spearheaded legislative policies that position Florida as a leader in the autonomous and connected vehicle industry. “The work they have supported in the Orlando area for technologically advanced communities certainly makes them a leader in the field, and an organization to be celebrated.”
