Community Tops RCLCO and John Burns Lists of 2018 National Top-Selling Master-Planned Communities Expands Multi-Family Offering with New Development

Orlando, Fla. – (Jan. 30, 2019) – In 2018, Orlando’s Lake Nona community continued to be one of the top-selling communities in the country with 507 new home contracts signed led by record-setting years in the Lake Nona Golf & Country Club and Laureate Park neighborhoods.

For the seventh year in a row, Lake Nona has been named to both the John Burns Real Estate Consulting and RCLCO’s (formerly Robert Charles Lesser & Co.) lists of “Top-Selling Master-Planned Communities (MPCs)” in the nation – ranking number 15 on RCLCO and 16 on John Burns. The surveys are based on total home sales as reported by each individual community. Lake Nona joins other regional developments The Villages, Lakewood Ranch (Sarasota), and Nocatee (Jacksonville) all three of which were also named as top-selling communities.

“2018 was a great year for Lake Nona,” said Craig Collin, Senior Vice President of Tavistock Development Company. “We offer premier amenities, a robust community programming calendar, wellbeing and performance-driven opportunities, one-of-a-kind healthcare studies, and residential layouts that combine to encourage a sense of community among neighbors.”

The 600-acre Lake Nona Golf & Country Club recorded its best year to date with 22 resale properties, 10 new lot sales, and 13 new home sales in 2018. Sales within the Lake Nona Golf & Country Club totaled nearly $60 million making it another banner year for residential real estate in the highly-regarded Central Florida locale. Noted as one of the top private golf and country clubs in the world, it is a sanctuary of luxury real estate and amenities, featuring a Tom Fazio-designed championship golf course, clubhouse, lodge, Bath & Racquet Club, year-round children’s programming, and 24-hour gated security. Last year, the Club announced expansion plans along the shore of Lake Nona’s new crystal lagoon, designed with Miami-based Crystal Lagoons US Corp. Expansion plans include luxurious condominiums, single-family residences, and a beach club with access to the lagoon. The project is expected to break ground this year.

Laureate Park, Lake Nona’s largest and best-selling neighborhood, also recorded its best year with 377 sales totaling approximately $185 million in 2018. Among those contracts were single-family homes, townhomes, cottages and urban bungalows situated among pocket parks, 44 miles of trails and a Village Center featuring public art, a top-rated daycare, waterfront restaurant, and resort-style aquatic center. The neighborhood, defined by its cutting-edge technology, offers residents fiber-optic lines that deliver gigabit-capacity internet service, plus a commitment to reducing energy, emissions, and water usage in every home.

In addition to keeping record pace within its active selling neighborhoods, Lake Nona also opened two new residential developments in 2018: Somerset Crossings and The Gatherings. A supplement to Lake Nona’s Somerset Park neighborhood, which opened in 2015 and sold out of all new homes in 2018, Somerset Crossings is a gated townhome community by Pulte Homes featuring open-concept floor plans and resort-style amenities. Lake Nona also opened its first community for active adults, The Gatherings from Beazer Homes.

As residential sales continue to climb, Lake Nona also sees steady demand for its multi-family developments: LandonHouse, Ariel, and WaterMark. Lake Nona’s next apartment project, Pixon, will open in early 2019. Pixon’s overall leasing is on pace with earlier projects and the building’s micro-units, the first in Orlando, leased out within the first 48 hours.
